chihuahua eating sweet potato dog treats.

Is your pup bored of regular old dog treats? They might be ready to try these spooky sweet potato dog treats! These treats are super fun because they come in natural Halloween colors, orange and purple. Regular sweet potatoes are orange, and you can sometimes fine purple sweet potatoes for a purple color.

We could only find orange ones for our test bake, but they still came out fun! Get yourself some spooky cookie cutters to make these treats even cuter, or just use any old cutter. Your dog won’t mind.

We found this recipe on Peace, Love and Frenchie Farts. Full disclosure, our chihuahuas weren’t terribly wild about these treats. Only one of them ate it. If your dog is a fan of sweet potato or dry treats though, they’ll probably like this more than my doggos did.

What You Need

1 1/4 Cup Oat flour. (Oat flour is expensive! We just got quick oats and pulsed it in a coffee grinder.)

3/4 cup sweet potato

1/4 cup apple sauce

2 tbs peanut butter (make sure there is no xylitol in it. Xylitol is toxic to dogs.)

Baking Instructions

Peel and chop 3/4 cup of sweet potato.

Boil them until they are soft and mash them.

Mix the sweet potato, peanut butter, apple sauce and flour together.

Chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Roll out the dough, and cut fun shapes!

Bake for 22 minutes at 350F.

Let cool and serve! These keep in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
