My dogs love bacon. They love cheese. What better way to combine their favorite snacks and my love of baking than some Bacon Cheddar Pupcakes? That’s what we thought when we found this delightfully simple recipe by Love Mischka.
The ingredients for this recipe are super simple, and include:
- 4 slices Bacon
- 3 Tbsp Bacon Grease
- 2 Eggs large (we used 3 banty eggs)
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 3/4 cup Cheddar Cheese
- 8oz package of cream cheese

Easy to Follow
The recipe is pretty easy to follow. Mix the wet ingredients together first, than the dry ingredients into the wet, followed by crumbled bacon and shredded cheese. There’s a very generous amount of cheese and bacon in there, with the flour and egg essentially just holding it all together.
Once it’s all mixed, bake it for 20 minutes, let them cool, and slather on a cream cheese frosting.
The Doggos
My dogs are largely unimpressed with my bake goods. They prefer treats like shredded chicken or a nice smoked steak. The last time we baked little milkbone style treats for them they went and buried it in the sandbox just to get rid of it.
All 4 dogs ate these pupcakes. Rocco was the most suspicious, and spent several long minutes sniffing it before gobbling it down. Tank and Sandy gulped theirs in 3 bites. Leia has bad teeth, but she hurried the whole cupcake off to a bed so she could spend the next 30 minutes gumming it down.
Final Thoughts
I will definitely be looking at more of Mischka’s recipes for my dogs. Unlike so many recipes that are basically hardtack, these pupcakes have everything in them a dog really wants. They’re also soft enough for dogs with bad teeth and can be made small for little dogs.
