After my initial library challenge, I continued to stop by our local library to look for new books. Sometimes they get new books, and some of the dog books were checked out when I started my challenge. Eventually, I would love to have a review of every dog book out there, so I keep looking.
“This Is A Book For People Who Love Dogs” was in the section when I checked a few months later. It was marked as a new book. It’s written by Meg Freitag and is 136 pages long.
This book would make a nice gift for a dog lover. It might also work as a bathroom reader. It shares the history of the dog, what dogs were used for historically, their senses, and the different groups of dogs.
The book isn’t terribly deep, and disappointingly only mentions chihuahuas once in the whole book. Meg has a warm and pleasant writing voice in this book. Her writing style carries us through her knowledge of dogs very gently.
We found out after researching the book that Lucy Rose is the illustrator for “This Is A Book For People Who Love Dogs.” Her illustrations are so darling, we think she deserves a little spotlight on her for her beautiful work.
Final Thoughts
If you don’t know anything about dogs, this book will be educational for you. If you have advanced knowledge of dogs and are looking for a book that will help you grow your knowledge, this isn’t the book.
It’s mildly entertaining, short, and has a lot of cute pictures in it, but it’s not meant to be more than that.
